SustainabilityOccupational Health

The Occupational Safety programs undertaken by the Odebrecht companies that operate in the Engineering and Construction sector are designed to orient people, and facilitate and promote conducts and opinions considered appropriate for the health issues at the developments and around them, together with the communities and in the environments that exist beyond the construction sites. Also guarantee compliance with legal requirements, sector-level commitments and other applicable requirements.

Occupational Health management follows specific policies and guidelines for the topic and is based on international norms, the legal requirements of the countries and environments in which our developments are inserted, and the experience of good Engineering and Construction practices. We currently maintain the OHSAS 18001:2007 certification.

Principles:

  • Aspects associated with occupational health and the promotion of health must be considered starting with the development planning phase. The specific conditions of each region (endemic diseases, factors such as weather and topography, quality, scope, availability and accessibility to health services, among others) must be included in the initial planning surveys for the implementation of health programs.
  • The development Leader is responsible for the following:

Defining what is appropriate for the occupational health and health promotion programs. The Leader receives the support of the professional responsible for the health area at the development when defining the scope and reach of such programs, as well as the corporate support of the occupational health area.

Guarantee the application of health programs for Members, subcontractors, suppliers and services providers operating in the development work environment.

Perform a critical analysis and evaluation together with the professional responsible for the health program at the development, designed to ensure the continuous improvement of health program results.

  • After guaranteeing the adequate conditions for protecting occupational health, each Member at the developments becomes the main agent responsible for his or her own health. In the work environment, the Leaders are responsible for influencing those they lead and demonstrating through example the role and responsibility of the each individual when it comes to ensuring health, as well as their role as an agent in promoting the health of their family and the communities located near the developments.
