Odebrecht’s History in the Country:

Initiated in May 2006 through the Odebrecht-Al Jaber joint venture, the construction project to build the second runway at the Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates was inaugurated in 2009. Extending 4,100 meters, it received the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) certification.

The first plane to land on the new runway was the Airbus A320, made by the company Etihad, but the new runway can also receive the A380 model, the world’s largest commercial airplane.

The government agency Scadia (Supervision Committee for the Expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport) contracted the project. It also includes the construction of two main taxi runways, two runways for connection with the existing ones and airport infrastructure projects.
