Odebrecht’s History in the Country:

Construtora Norberto Odebrecht entered the country in 1994. One of the projects the company completed was Joel – 3rd Mine. Undertaken the District of Theunissen, the development consisted of the excavation and paving of a well with a depth of 1,641 meters and diameter of 8.5 meters.

The construction project, contracted by Johannesburg Consolidated Investment (JCI), also included the commissioning of the permanent well operation system. The project was delivered in 1998.

In Pietermaritzburg, the construction company was responsible for the Midmar Tunnel, completed in 1997. Measuring 6.7 long and with a diameter of 3.5 meters, the tunnel was excavated using the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) system.
