Odebrecht’s History in the Country:

Located in North Africa, Libya is preparing its infrastructure to become the main entryway into the continent. Odebrecht International is there, offering its first contributions to the country.

The Company is building two new terminals for the Tripoli International Airport, a project estimated at 970 million Euros. It is also working on the Third Beltway, also in Tripoli, estimated at 250 million Euros.

The construction projects are crucial for Libya’s growth strategy. More than two construction projects, they are the business card of those who come to stay.

The project for the new Tripoli International Airport is part of a development plan that began a few years ago. New passenger terminals are being constructed around the current international airport and will have a total estimated capacity of 20 million passengers per year.

The construction project is being undertaken as part of a joint venture between Odebrecht, the Turkish company Tepe Akfen (TAV) and the Greek company CCC – Consolidated Contractors Company. Odebrecht leads the consortium with 50% stake.

Odebrecht is also present in Libya through Libyan-Brazilian Construction & Development (LBCD), a company constituted in association with the Urban Development Holding Company (UDHC). The Company is currently the controlling shareholder with 60% stake. The contract for the construction of the Third Beltway is the first for LBCD and was closed in 2006.
