CompaniesOdebrecht Energia
Created to invest in the generation and sale of energy produced using its own assets, Odebrecht Energia already accumulates more than 1,400 MW of installed power in renewable source projects in Latin America. Its energy assets include hydroelectric power plants, wind energy parks and solar energy, biomass and SHP projects.
The company emerged from Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, whose portfolio includes the construction of 72 hydroelectric power plants, 12 thermoelectric power plants, two nuclear power plants, dams for a range of different purposes, as well as the installation of approximately 6,300 km of transmission lines.
Investments in the Energy Sector
Located on the Madeira River in Porto Velho, Rondônia, the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant has 3,150MW of installed power – enough energy to supply 40 million people. The installation of the plant involves investments of R$ 16 billion, R$ 1.4 billion of which are directed at social-environmental actions. The first energy generation will occur nearly one year ahead of schedule. The Teles Pires HPP, currently being constructed on the Teles Pires River at the border of the states of Mato Grosso and Pará, has 1,820MW of installed power, enough to supply 2.7 million families. The development required a total investment of R$4 billion and its installation began in 2011. The plant is scheduled for conclusion in 2015.
With the Chaglla Hydroelectric Power Plant in Peru, a development requiring investments of more than US$ 1 billion and with an installed capacity of 406 MW, Odebrecht Energia began its operations abroad.
The Corredor do Senandes Wind Energy Complex, currently being installed in Rio Grande, state of Rio Grande do Sul, is formed by four wind energy parks that have a total of 117MW of installed power. The total investment in the development is R$380 million and the start of operation is set for 2014. Odebrecht Energia has an additional 16 wind energy parks to be installed, which total 365MW.
Constructions in the Energy Sector
Indicated on eight different occasions as the largest international constructor of hydroelectric power plants, Odebrecht’s participation in construction projects and services in the energy sector totals over 52,000 MW in Brazil and abroad.
The company has a greenhouse gas emission inventory at all of its constructions, making it possible to develop strategies that reduce environmental impacts.
Currently, the main developments in the energy sector being constructed by Odebrecht include the Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Power Plant in Rondônia, with 3,150MW; the Teles Pires Hydroelectric Power Plant, located at the border of the states of Mato Grosso and Pará, with 1,820MW, and the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant in Pará, with 11,233MW of installed power.
